Hawarden, Iowa is a small community (pop. 2600) next to the Big Sioux River in Sioux County in northwest Iowa. Hawarden is located just 35 miles north of Sioux City, Iowa and 45 miles south of Sioux Falls, SD so you can have all the finest of "big city life" while maintaining the safety and quiet lifestyle of rural Iowa.

HITEC - Hawarden Connection to the World...The biggest news in Hawarden is our municipal telecommunication system we call HITEC for Hawarden Integrated Technology, Energy and Communications. It is the first municipal cable, telephone and high speed data transfer utility in Iowa. HITEC is now available to every home in Hawarden. We currently provide cable, internet and telephone service over an integrated fiber-optic and coaxial system.

Check out the new and improved Library Web Site. It's worth the visit. The city has a very dynamic and innovative Library offering a full range of services to Hawarden residents. They our celebrating all year with special events. Check it out. Our library brings all the information home to Hawarden. And part of the commitment is the Hawarden Library Web presence. You can learn a lot at the Library.

The city sends out a monthly newsletter with the utility bills. I have posted a copy of each month's newsletter here. If you are like me, you will throw your copy away the day before you need a date or time or information. Well, you can find them online going all the way back to May 2000.
